Arranging A Remote Work Team? 4 Ways To Care For Their Needs

Is your company sending a team to work on a long project away from the office? Arranging for a good remote work environment is key to ensuring that the project is completed efficiently and with the highest skill while still caring for your employees' needs. How can you do this, no matter if they will be at that location for a few weeks or even a few months? Here are four ways any company can help.

1. Use Extended Stay. An extended stay hotel is a good choice for remote workers at temporary locations. The cost over time will be significantly less than using a standard hotel for a long period. And your worker doesn't need to find their own furnishings and supplies as they would if they rented an apartment for the same period of time. As a result, they can focus on the project's needs rather than trying to find what they need just for day-to-day life.

2. Keep Workers Close. A remote team may come to feel isolated when working away from their usual office and homes. Help them fight this loneliness and any feelings of being 'left out' by arranging for all members of the team to live within a close physical proximity. While they need their own living space, being in the same complex or neighborhood will help them all continue to associate and will facilitate after-hours meetings

3. Choose Good Amenities. Everyone has their own home routines. But those routines are disrupted when people have to live temporarily away from home. Provide assistance maintaining a good work/life balance and caring for their needs by researching amenities that they need. Talk with these employees before you choose a living accommodation so you can find out exactly which amenities — such as on-site gyms, a business office, cocktail hour, or even a sports bar — would appeal most to these particular individuals.

4. Arrange for Fun. If the work project will stretch out beyond a few weeks, make sure you arrange time and budget for relaxation and enjoyment too. Employees with families usually benefit from visiting home or having their families visit the temporary location. Research the area to find a few places that the team can enjoy a day off — perhaps hiking or biking in the wilds, visiting a local amusement park or fair, or even going out for dinner and drinks after a long week.

If you care for the needs of your remote employees, they will be better equipped to focus on the work you need them to do. Your company profits from a job well done, and your employees have both enjoyment and satisfaction in their work.
